Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked US President Donald Trump for his phone call and expressed his “full commitment” towards the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership.
US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day before his birthday to wish him and said that he feels Modi ji is “doing a very good job.”
Trump wrote in a social media post:
“Today, I had the privilege of speaking with PM Modi and conveying my warm wishes on his birthday. He is doing a great job. Thank you, Narendra, for your support! To achieve a peaceful settlement of the war between Ukraine and Russia.”
Responding on X, PM Modi thanked the US President, writing:

“Big thanks from PM Modi to my friend President Trump for the call and warm wishes on my 75th birthday. Like you, I remain fully committed to advancing the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership. We support your efforts to bring peace between Ukraine and Russia.”
This development came as India and the US formally restarted trade discussions in Delhi. The Indian government said the meeting was good and would be beneficial for the future. The talks covered various topics related to a trade deal.
On Tuesday, a team from the US Trade Representative’s office, led by Brendan Lynch, came to India. The Indian delegation was led by Rajesh Agarwal, Special Secretary, Department of Commerce.
According to the Indian Commerce Ministry:

“India and the US have decided to intensify their efforts to conclude a mutually beneficial trade deal as soon as possible.”
These discussions had begun in March-April, but after the US imposed tariffs, they were slightly delayed. Now, despite some small issues, everything is back on track.
